Semolina is the coarse, purified wheat middlings of durum wheat used in making pasta, breakfast cereals, puddings, and couscous. The term semolina is also used to designate coarse middlings from other varieties of wheat, and from other grains, such as rice and maize.Suji, Semolina or Rava are terms used in India to explain a type of grind related to grain. Basically there are two varieties of grinds, suji and the medium sooji. To get regular Sooji, the grain is ground to the consistency of coarse sand grains. Medium suji is finer and hence ground extra. A third phase of additional grinding will yield a fine powder, which is referred to as flour. The grain referred here is applied more to wheat, whereas in Bangladesh, it is likely to mean rice, and rarely, the term will can even be used to refer to the flour made from chick peas. Maize or corn is another grain from which sooji is made.
